«I apologize to the victims. I know that no words and money will return the dead … And yet I will try to close all lawsuits, I will not limit myself to work in the colony. I will try to write a book and pay it off with money,» Galyaviev said in his last speech.
«God I was not and do not consider myself as such. Once again I apologize for what I did,» the defendant concluded his speech.
According to investigators, «the cause of the tragic events was Galyaviev's desire to imitate the actions of informal representatives of one of the destructive subcultures, information about which he learned from the Internet, copying their behavior during the attack.»
667 people were recognized as victims in the case (143 of them suffered serious bodily harm), civil suits for 48 million rubles were filed.
Galyaviev was recognized as sane, during the investigation he fully admitted his guilt, repented of his deed. The final charge was brought under four articles of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation: on the murder of two or more persons, attempted murder, illegal manufacture and storage of explosives and explosive devices, and deliberate destruction of property.
