MOSCOW, Apr 10 Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov held a meeting with the heads of diplomatic missions of the BRICS countries accredited in Moscow in the format of a working breakfast, informed the partners about the main provisions of the new edition of the concept of foreign policy of the Russian Federation, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
«A thorough exchange of views took place on the development and strengthening of strategic partnership within the framework of the association, including taking into account the priorities outlined by the South African chairmanship. A common mood was expressed to increase the international role of BRICS, increase coordination at key multilateral platforms. Topical issues on the global agenda were discussed with an emphasis on the inadmissibility of blurring the UN's central role,» the Russian Foreign Ministry said after the meeting.
During the working breakfast, the commitment to a multipolar world order based on respect for international law and the sovereign choice of one's own development path was reaffirmed. The growing interest of a wide range of countries in cooperation with the BRICS, which is now seen as the guardian of true multilateralism, was noted.
Lavrov also stressed the need for «joint efforts to resist destructive actions to destroy the existing security architecture, undertaken in line with the neo-colonial policy of Western countries.»
In addition, the Minister informed the partners about the main provisions of the new version of the foreign policy concept of the Russian Federation, approved by Russian President Vladimir Putin on March 31, which reflects the vision of a multipolar world order, as well as an interest in expanding cooperation within the BRICS.
