VORONEZH, April 11 The Investigative Committee has launched an investigation based on media reports about the death of a Voronezh villager who did not wait for the arrival of an ambulance stuck on a washed-out road.
«Today, the media reported that on April 3, a resident of the village of Rykan, Novousmansky district, died, who did not wait for the arrival of an ambulance, which was stuck on a washed out road — the car could not pass, the paramedic traveled on foot,» the IC department said on Tuesday Russian Federation for the Voronezh region.
According to the media, residents also reported that they had repeatedly appealed to officials about road repairs, but to no avail.
“A procedural check has been organized on this fact, within the framework of which an objective legal assessment of the current situation will be given, including the actions of administration officials,” the investigation informs.
In turn, the administration of the Novousmansky district reported that «the call to the ambulance was received not in order to provide assistance to an 84-year-old patient, but solely to record the fact of his death.» At the same time, the district authorities acknowledge the fact that the ambulance could not pass due to a washed-out dirt road.
«The possibility of repairing the road is now under consideration — it is difficult to repair all problematic roads, given the possibilities of the budget. Annually, it is possible to put in order 30-50 kilometers of local roads with many times greater demand,» reports administration.
