
MOSCOW, April 12 Israeli writer Meir Shalev has died after a battle with cancer, writes Ynet. He was 74 years old.
He died in his home in the settlement of Aloney Abba.
Condolences were expressed by Minister of Culture and Sports Miki Zohar and Israeli President Yitzhak Herzog.
Meir Shalev is the son of writer Yitzhak Shalev and poetess Batya Ben-Barak. After serving in the army, he studied psychology at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. 1970s Meir rose to prominence as a journalist and broadcaster.
In 1982, Shalev published his first work. Among his most famous works are «Russian Romance», «Esav», «Like a Few Days…», «In My House in the Desert», «The Pigeon and the Boy» and others.
He left behind a wife and two children.
