MOSCOW, April 12 Food inflation in the Russian Federation in March 2023 in monthly terms decreased to 0.13% from 0.79% in February, in annual terms in terms, it slowed immediately to 2.57% from 9.33% a month earlier, Rosstat said.
Non-food products in March increased in price by 0.14% compared to February, and by 0.12% compared to March last year. Excluding fruits and vegetables, food prices rose by 0.15% in March, and by 4.44% in annual terms. Prices for fruits and vegetables in March added 0.06% compared to February, and since March 2022 they have decreased by 9.39%.
According to the statistics agency, food prices rose in March by 0.1% in monthly terms and by 2.43% in annual terms. Of the items listed in the report, chicken eggs (plus 3.57%), granulated sugar (plus 1.34%) and fish with seafood (plus 0.53%) rose in price most of all in March, while cereals and legumes stand out among the cheaper products (minus 1.12%), meat and poultry (minus 0.46%) and sunflower oil (minus 0.03%).
Powdered milk formulas for baby food rose by 1.9%, wheat flour — by 1.2%, champagne and grape fortified wines — by 0.8%, black tea, cognac and vodka rose in price by an average of 0.7%, green tea — by 0.6%, raw smoked sausages, canned fish, condensed milk, marshmallows, marshmallows, cakes, mineral and drinking water — by 0.5%.
At the same time, buckwheat fell in price by 3.3%, oatmeal and pearl barley — by 2%, semolina — by 1.6%, peas and beans — by 1.1%, beef and pork liver, live and chilled fish — by 1%, canned fruits and berries for baby food — by 0.7%, cereals (breakfast cereals), chocolate, cocoa, dry seasonings, spices — by 0.6%.
