SIMFEROPOL, April 11 to choose through voting in the regional legislature, a corresponding legal act is already being prepared, said Acting Governor of the region Vladimir Saldo.
«Today, a relevant legal act is being prepared that will regulate the procedure for electing the highest official of the Kherson region. Considering the difficult situation, we are more inclined towards indirect elections of the governor,» Saldo said.
According to him, in accordance with this procedure, the parties represented in the legislative assembly of the region will nominate candidates. «After that, these candidates, approved by the President of the Russian Federation, will be submitted for consideration to the Legislative Assembly of the region,» Saldo emphasized.
Kherson region became a subject of the Russian Federation following a referendum held in September 2022. At the same time, the Ukrainian side does not recognize its legitimacy and continues to shell the territory of the region. Today, 75% of the territory of the Kherson region is under Russian control, and part on the right bank of the Dnieper, including Kherson, remains under Ukraine.
