MOSCOW, April 13The effect of US sanctions against MegaFon does not apply to communication services and payments for them; thus, the sanctions will not have a direct significant impact on the company's business, its subscribers and the services provided to them, including roaming, the company's press service said.
On Wednesday, the United States imposed new sanctions against dozens of individuals and legal entities connected with Russia. In particular, Megafon is included in the sanctions lists.
At the same time, the Office of Foreign Assets Control of the US Treasury Department (OFAC) excluded the provision of communication services from sanctions restrictions on MegaFon. The corresponding license is published on the website of the sanctions regulator. This license authorizes the operator to provide telecommunications services and to export, re-export, sell or supply from the United States or by American persons services, software, hardware or technology for the provision of Internet communications services.
«Issued after the announcement of our company's inclusion in the sanctions list, the OFAC license says that the restrictions imposed by the United States do not apply to us for any services in the field of providing communications and payments for them.
