Cosmonaut Skripochka explained why it is necessary to explore the moon

SEVASTOPOL, April 12 The exploration of the Moon and the construction of long-term stations on it, the continuation of manned flights and the creation of orbital stations are necessary for the exploration of deep space and flights to other planets, explained cosmonaut Oleg Skripochka.
Oleg Skripochka is in Sevastopol on Cosmonautics Day, where he took part in the opening of the Space Conquerors square after reconstruction.

«We need to develop manned space, make new (orbital) stations with advanced capabilities, that is, expand the circle of people who can work on board — profile scientists and researchers … Space stations will definitely be needed. It is long-term work that can provide information on how to live and work in space,» Skripochka said.

According to him, the exploration of the Moon and the construction of long-term stations on the Earth's satellite is necessary for the exploration of deep space.
«In my opinion, the Moon is our springboard for long-range flights, the nearest celestial body on which we can work out the technologies that we will use on the planets of the solar system. Therefore, I believe that first of all we need to explore the Moon, build long-term bases there, work out equipment, protection from radiation — everything so that a person can work there relatively safely and calmly. And, of course, it is necessary to fly to other planets, «the agency's interlocutor said.
Oleg Skripochka is the 107th cosmonaut of the Russian Federation and the 516th cosmonaut of the world. He joined the cosmonaut corps in 1997. Performed three space flights, the total duration of which is 536 days 3 hours 49 minutes. Three times went into outer space, where he spent a total of 16 hours 39 minutes. The last time he flew to the ISS was from September 2019 to April 2020. Skripochka left the Roscosmos cosmonaut corps in December 2021.
On April 12, 1961, Yuri Gagarin became the first man in the world to fly into space. Now, on April 12, Cosmonautics Day is celebrated annually in Russia. kartiny-1864719872.html» data-title=»Paintings of cosmonaut Alexei Leonov were presented in the Tretyakov Gallery»>
