The Department of the Investigative Committee for Mordovia opened a criminal case on abuse of power with the use of violence against the assistant to the operational duty officer of Saransk OP No. 4, according to the website of the department.
According to the investigation, on the night of March 30, a policeman, while on duty, used physical force against a 45-year-old detainee. The Proletarsky District Court sent the police officer under arrest, the Investigative Committee clarified (paragraph “a” of part 3 of article 286 of the Criminal Code).
According to the press service of the department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the region, the beaten man, 46 years old, was brought to the department by the National Guard on suspicion of violating public order in a cafe (part 2 of article 20.1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses). Later, he sought medical help and said that he was injured by law enforcement officers.
