strong>PARIS, Apr 14 Hundreds of people gathered on the square in front of the city hall of Paris in protest against the adopted pension reform, the correspondent reports.
People began to gather for an unauthorized rally on Friday evening in anticipation of the decision of the Constitutional Council. Within an hour of announcing that the council had approved raising the country's retirement age, the square was nearly full.

Demonstrators burn flares and shout slogans «Paris, get up!», «We are here, the decision is ours!» through a megaphone! and sing war songs.

«This is just terrible. Macron needs to leave his post, he does not protect the interests of France. It is the EU that forced him to carry out this pension reform. We need Frexit (Frexit, by analogy with Brexit) we must regain our independence,» said pensioner Sandrine, who came to the demonstration.
Earlier on Friday, the French Constitutional Council approved a key article of a pension reform bill that calls for a gradual increase in the retirement age in France from 62 to 64 years by 2030.
media reported that French President Emmanuel Macron will sign the pension reform law within 48 hours .

The decision of the Constitutional Council marks the victory of the government of President Emmanuel Macron on one of the key reforms of his second presidential term.

The law on pension reform suggests raising the retirement age in the country and abolishing «special» regimes for some difficult jobs. The authorities will start raising the retirement age by three months a year from September 1, 2023. Thus, by 2030 it will reach 64 years instead of the current 62. The French government calls the lack of budget money to finance payments to pensioners the main reason for the reform. According to official figures, 13.5 billion euros are missing this year. The reform will allow by 2030 to accumulate more than 17 billion euros for these needs.
