The head of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov, was declared an «undesirable person» by the Moldovan authorities and was not allowed into the country. The Gagauznews telegram channel writes about this.
“Unfortunately, the Moldovan authorities have decided that we are unwanted citizens who cannot visit this country,” Minnikhanov said. On the trip, the head of Tatarstan was accompanied by the head of Ak Bars Holding Company Ivan Egorov, who was also denied entry.
Minnikhanov said that he flew to Moldova to participate in the Friendship of Peoples 2023 congress at the invitation of [candidate for the post of head of the Gagauz autonomy Viktor] Petrov and [deputy of the Moldovan parliament Alexander] Sukhodolsky. Earlier, Moldovan politicians visited Tatarstan and, according to the head of the republic, “outlined a large program of joint work.”
In a conversation with TASS, Sudokholsky confirmed that Minnikhanov came to the country at his invitation. “I sent an official invitation to Minnikhanov to the congress. I was waiting for Minnikhanov at the airport with all the documents. <…> He was not even allowed to get off the plane at the Chisinau airport. They handed over a document stating that they were denied entry,” said the deputy of the Moldovan parliament. “We planned to discuss the implementation of joint projects with Yegorov in the Gagauz autonomy,” Sukhodolsky added.
