MOSCOW, April 17 The Ministry of Finance does not support the idea of declaring cash in excess of one million rubles, the ministry's press service reported.
“
“In connection with incoming media inquiries, the Ministry of Finance declares that the proposal of Deputy Anatoly Wasserman on declaring cash over one million rubles and on explaining the sources of their appearance is not discussed and is not being worked out in the government,” they emphasized there.
The ministry added that this initiative is not in line with financial and economic policy and does not meet the interests of Russians, who have the right to choose how to store their savings.
Earlier Wasserman prepared a bill that proposes to oblige Russians to notify the tax authorities about the storage of cash from a million rubles or the equivalent in other currencies. According to him, now most of the calculations can be carried out in a non-cash form, and cash «becomes suspicious.» The MP also spoke about the punishment envisaged by the bill in case of violation. We are talking about the confiscation of this money, as well as a fine of two such amounts.
