MOSCOW, April 17 The Gorky Film Studio will shoot two full-length feature films about the poets Vladimir Mayakovsky and Korney Chukovsky, the press service of the institution reported.
Now they are at the development stage . The working title of the tape about Chukovsky is «Roots and the Crocodile», and the pictures about Mayakovsky are «Shackled by the Film».
According to the head of the production center of the Gorky film studio, Lika Blank, the films will not be classic biographies. One of them will show Mayakovsky's relationship with his muse Lilya Brik during the filming of the silent film Chained by Film.
The second film will tell how Chukovsky created his first children's poem «Crocodile» and what his life was like on the shores of the Gulf of Finland with family and friends.
«»About them (Mayakovsky and Chukovsky) Many books have been written and many documentaries have been shot, but we want to create a feature film to reveal their personalities to the modern audience from a new perspective,” says Yuliana Slashcheva, general director of the film studio.
The press service recalled that the poem «Crocodile» was written by Korney Chukovsky in 1916-1917. It was first published in 1917 under the title «Vanya and the Crocodile» in the supplement to the «Niva» magazine «For Children».
Mayakovsky in 1918 wrote the script for Lilya Brik. Together they starred in the silent feature film Chained by Film, directed by Nikandr Turkin. The protagonist is an artist who has the ability to see the essence of people, but it bothers him. One day he falls in love with the image of a ballerina from the film, and the girl leaves the movie screen and enters the real world.
