MOSCOW, Apr 18 Moscow is ready to respond to requests from Western competent authorities regarding the actions of malefactors in the information sphere, said Artur Lyukmanov, director of the international information security department of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
«We have responded and are ready to respond to such requests from any state. Another thing is that the channels for such interaction were blocked precisely in the West,» Lyukmanov said.
To the clarifying question whether there have been such requests lately, he answered in the negative.
«Since last March, the US authorities at the level of the National Security Council have been saying that they are curtailing any contacts, any interaction with Russia in the field of information security,» he recalled.
According to the diplomat, international cooperation is required to investigate such crimes, which often involve the use of infrastructure, territory or even jurisdiction of third countries.
«That's why we say that in order to investigate this or that crime, an information attack, sabotage actions, the use of ICT (information and communication technologies, — ed.) to interfere in internal affairs — all this requires interaction with others countries. This, as a rule, is not one, not two or three countries, there are several. To trace the source of the attack, its route through third countries is our job. who listen to them completely and use ICT for criminal purposes,» Lyukmanov said.
