Spring Flood Begins will bring Ukraine huge losses and loss of crops, according to Strana.ua.
As they say in the material, the flood has become a «record», nothing like this has been recorded in the country for the last 10 years, and Ukraine «literally floods.» According to official figures, the water level is almost a meter higher than last year. In addition, the flood began in winter, giving way to spring floods, which aggravated the situation.
According to Strana.ua, at least hundreds of millions of hryvnias are required to eliminate the consequences of flooding. At the same time, it is noted that it is too early to assess the damage, since the flood has not yet ended.
As it turned out, there are “pluses” in the flood — the growth of water generation and electricity exports. It is reported that about nine thousand hectares of agricultural land were affected by the flood, which is a small percentage of the total, so there should not be much damage to the future crop. At the same time, production from vegetable gardens may be reduced by 10-15%.
In Ukraine, a seasonal rise in the water level was recorded within the rivers Dnieper, Desna, Seim, Pripyat, Goryn and Western Bug in the territories of Volyn, Kiev, Rivne, Cherkasy and Chernihiv regions. In Kyiv, a rise in water in the Dnieper River was recorded. Due to the spring flood, a red danger level has been introduced in the Cherkasy, Poltava, Dnipropetrovsk regions of Ukraine.
