MOSCOW, 17 Apr. State Duma deputy Elena Drapeko announced why military songs should be included in the library of the national treasure and become popular, and the copyright for them should be abolished.
«
«We have never encountered this before, but now — some heirs of war songwriters forbid their use. We have a somewhat complicated legislation in this regard — 70 years must pass for works to come out of copyright protection. A compromise would be to pay royalties to the heirs so that they receive income for performing songs, but cannot forbid them to perform,” Drapeko noted.
Drapeko added that some heirs of war songwriters oppose CBO, therefore prohibit the use of compositions in connection with the events in the Donbass and Ukraine.
The MP noted that such behavior and statements «require verification» by the authorities. Drapeko also stressed that military songs have been and will «always be important for our culture, regardless of a special military operation.»
The parliamentarian added that modern pop songs can also be performed -singers, but they must do it with respect.
“If they do parodies, it should be punishable,” Drapeko said. “But if they just perform, let them sing.”
Formerly, Drapeko appreciated the creativity of SHAMAN. In her opinion, his songs cannot be called a breakthrough.
