MOSCOW, April 18 The 15th International Music Festival led by Yuri Bashmet will be held in Yaroslavl from May 1 to 9, the project's press service reported.
Concerts and performances will be held both at the main venues in Yaroslavl — at the Philharmonic and the Millennium concert and entertainment center, and at venues in the Yaroslavl region.
This year's festival participants include pianists Elizaveta Leonskaya (Austria), Ksenia Bashmet, Dmitry Masleev, Philip Kopachevsky, Igor Butman and his Moscow Jazz Orchestra, vocalists Anna Yurkus, Ilya Kotyukhin, actors of the Moscow Art Theatre. Chekhov Avant-garde Leontiev, Mikhail Porechenkov, Anna Chipovskaya, Igor Zolotovitsky, Igor Vernik and Kristina Babushkina, musicians from Iran, Serbia, Belgium, Bahrain and Italy.
Maestro Bashmet himself will also traditionally take part in two roles — as a soloist and as a conductor of two ensembles: the New Russia Symphony Orchestra and the Moscow Soloists Chamber Ensemble.
The Opening Gola Concerto «Mozart-Mozart» will present two facets of the composer – the famous Mozart and the rarely performed Mozart. The evening of May 2 will be dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the birth of the great Russian composer, pianist and conductor Sergei Rachmaninov. The program includes «Symphonic Dances» and the Second Piano Concerto (soloist — Dmitry Masleev).
The festival will include concerts dedicated to the music of Persia, an evening of wind instruments, a baroque tarantella concert that will unite musicians from different countries — Belgium, Bahrain, Italy on the stage of the Yaroslavl Philharmonic. Evening «Classic Meets Jazz», where Yuri Bashmeta and Igor Butman will perform.
The festival in Yaroslavl will end with the play «The Living and the Dead. Soldiers Are Not Born», staged by Polina Agureeva based on the novel by Konstantin Simonov.
The International Brass Academy will be developed at the festival, master classes on brass and wooden instruments will be held.
