NIZHNY NOVGOROD, April 19 The interim head of the anti-corruption department of the police in Kstovo and the detective were detained on suspicion of bribery, the department of the RF IC reported on its website on Wednesday in the Nizhny Novgorod region.
According to investigators, on the afternoon of April 18, police officers on 40 Let Oktyabrya Street in the city of Kstovo received a bribe of 150,000 rubles from a local businessman for «failing to hold him accountable for illegal business», as well as for «general patronage in the future» .
The criminal deal was stopped by investigators of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation in cooperation with the operatives of the internal security department of the Main Directorate of Internal Affairs and the FSB.
“A criminal case has been initiated under Article 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (taking a bribe by an official). The suspects have been detained, they will be charged and a measure of restraint will be chosen in the near future,” the release says.
As noted in the press service of the regional department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, «if the guilt of employees is confirmed, they will be dismissed from the bodies on negative grounds, and their leaders will be brought to strict disciplinary responsibility.»
