MOSCOW, April 18Popularizers of science from China, Vietnam, Cuba and other countries are invited to the award «For fidelity to science» in 2023, and this year there will also be a special nomination for contribution to the projects of the Decade of Science and Technology, said Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko.
«Popularizers of domestic science and higher education abroad can now apply in the Science for the World nomination. This year popularizers of Russian science from China, Vietnam, Cuba and other countries are invited to participate in the Prize. As you know, science has no boundaries. Also from this year, we will celebrate with a special nomination the contribution to the projects of the Decade of Science and Technology, held at the initiative of the President,» Chernyshenko said, his words are quoted by his press service.
He added that the award «For fidelity to science» answers the needs of society, in 2023 it includes 14 nominations, four of them are new, in the Year of the Teacher and Mentor, announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin, the nomination «Mentor» appeared .
It is noted that the acceptance of applications for the IX All-Russian Prize «For Loyalty to Science» has already started, you can apply for participation on the official website of the Prize from April 17 to September 12.
It is added that the winners will receive a monetary reward, as well as special prizes from the partners of the competition: a trip on a nuclear icebreaker, a trip to one of the Russian spaceports and a unique excursion to one of the domestic plants.
«We see that only in the last two years — from 2020 to 2022 — the number of applications from participants has increased from 312 to 1165. In this regard, the membership of the Expert Council has been expanded this year. In 2023 68 people entered it last year, 57 last year,» said Valery Falkov, head of the Russian Ministry of Education and Science, quoted by the press service of the Deputy Prime Minister.
According to Konstantin Mogilevsky, Deputy Head of the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia, both individual applications, for example, from journalists, scientific communicators, scientists, public figures, and applications from organizations can be submitted for participation in the award.
The Science Commitment Award has been awarded since 2015 for outstanding achievements in science communication and popularization of science. Participants can be journalists covering the topic of Russian science, scientists and business representatives who have made a significant contribution to supporting the prestige of professional scientific activity and popularizing domestic scientific achievements.
The award is organized by the Russian Ministry of Education and Science, the partners of the event are the Russian Academy of Sciences, the National Research Center «Kurchatov Institute» and Lomonosov Moscow State University. For more than five years in a row, the award has been supported by the Art, Science and Sport Charitable Foundation.
