The Central Bank urged banks and collectors to synchronize debt collection

The Central Bank of Russia recommended that banks and collectors synchronize collection debts from creditors. This was stated by Alexei Chirkov, head of the regulatory department of the service for protecting consumer rights and ensuring the availability of financial services of the Central Bank, RBC quotes him.

Chirkov noted that the Bank of Russia intends to urge market participants to develop a unified approach to collecting debts from citizens having credit obligations to several organizations.

It is noted that 35% of Russian borrowers have two or more loans in different banks. In such situations, credit institutions begin to compete. Some collect debts through the courts, others draw up restructuring.

At the same time, many banks are also interested in synchronization and developing a unified approach, although there are difficulties in implementing the initiative. The head of NAPCA Elman Mehdiyev noted that MFIs, banks and collectors have different strategies when working with debtors, in addition, creditors may not want to make concessions to each other.
