KHABAROVSK, Apr 24. The CEC will select a little more than two dozen regions of the Russian Federation that will be able to use remote electronic voting on a single voting day in 2023, said Ella Pamfilova, head of the CEC of the Russian Federation, at a meeting with students at the Pacific State University in Khabarovsk.
«We are now carefully selecting applications for a single voting day… There are already about three dozen applications. So far, they have stopped, … it will not be much more than two dozen according to all the criteria that they (regions) must fulfill: Internet coverage, coverage of public services,» Pamfilova said.
According to her, we have to move carefully in this matter, «because there are a lot of external hacker attacks.»
«But the strength of our Vybory GAS system is that it is absolutely invulnerable, because it is autonomous from the Internet. And we are now making a new digital analogue, ensuring the principle of autonomy from the global network,» she added.
The head of the CEC noted that in the summer the exact list of Russian regions that will use remote electronic voting on a single voting day in 2023 will be determined .
«When the campaign is officially announced, it's mid-June… after that, we will officially begin to adopt regulations, including officially determining who will vote. But it will definitely be at least two dozen (regions),» Pamfilova said.
