MOSCOW, April 23, Svetlana Bonopartova. Acting President of the Federation figure skating of Russia (FFKKR) Anton Sikharulidze told reporters that the Moscow Sports Cup tournaments make it possible to find talented skaters.
On Sunday, the small sports arena of the Luzhniki complex hosted the finals of the Moscow Sports Cup in figure skating — team competitions among athletes aged 6 to 12, organized by the Moscow Department of Sports. As part of a series of competitions, Olympic champions Alina Zagitova, Anna Shcherbakova and Kamila Valieva, Russian champion Sofya Akatieva performed with demonstration numbers.
«»Figure skating has been developing very dynamically, especially in the last 10 years. We see that already young children perform multi-turn jumps. Our task is to see talents as early as possible who can go further, which we must help to pass junior sports, take care about their health, so that in the future they can become real leaders in world figure skating. The format of the Moscow Sports Cup allows you to see these talents and start working with them. It seems to me that this format can be introduced in many regions, «Sikharulidze said at the final press conference conferences.
Zagitova noted the scale of the competition. «When I competed at the youth, there was no such scale. It is very gratifying that figure skating is developing and living. I would like to wish the winners not to stop there, go forward, obey the coaches. Let this small victory be a step towards big goals. For those who do not got on the pedestal, I would like to wish you not to be upset, everything is ahead,» Zagitova said.
Based on the results of the Final, the organizers plan to create a Moscow team with the prospect of participating in the 2030 Olympic Games.
