MOSCOW, Apr 24 Pressure and attempts to interfere in elections in Russia will increase many times against the backdrop of a military special operation and the situation in the world, press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov told reporters.
Earlier, Ella Pamfilova, Chairman of the Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation, said that the West is purposefully conducting preparatory work to discredit the elections in Russia, it is important for them to undermine society from within. During Peskov's communication with the press on Monday, journalists asked the press secretary of the head of state to comment on Pamfilova's statement.
«The fact that one way or another there is interference from the outside every time, and in the conditions of a special military operation and the current international situation, this pressure, these attempts to interfere will increase many times over — nothing causes doubts here, therefore, we can agree in this regard», Peskov answered.
During his address to the Federal Assembly in February, President Vladimir Putin stated that elections to local and regional authorities in September and presidential elections in 2024 will be held in strict accordance with the law.
