Media: Charles III refused the airport terminal named after him

MOSCOW, April 26 King Charles III of Great Britain refused the offer London Heathrow Airport to rename the terminal in his honor, according to the British newspaper Times, citing sources in the government and at Buckingham Palace.
«Environmental considerations made the monarch doubt the proposal,» the newspaper writes. As a second possible reason for the refusal by Charles III, the Times cites the «lack of close ties» between the king and the airport. According to the publication, Buckingham Palace «urged ministers to politely decline the proposal so as not to cause embarrassment.»
In 2014, London Heathrow Airport was already renaming one of its terminals in honor of the monarch. Then Terminal 2 received the name «Royal Terminal» (Queen's Terminal) in honor of Elizabeth II.

Charles III regularly calls for climate protection. In 2022, at the COP26 summit in Glasgow, he called for a move away from fossil fuels and towards renewable resources. However, Charles III was much criticized for his frequent use of private jets and helicopters.
