KHABAROVSK, Apr 25 Head of the Central Election Commission At the Far Eastern Electoral Forum, Ella Pamfilova proposed to Russia to think about new forms of voting for territories with large distances and low population density.
“Yesterday I asked my colleagues that let's think… what forms of voting that will bring even closer, will make the voting system more efficient, where there is such a spread, there are very few people,” Pamfilova said.
According to her, it is not clear when remote electronic voting will come to these regions, so we need to think about another format, taking into account technical innovations. «In order to bring the electoral process closer to those people who are so scattered, live so far away, despite the distance, now this is a new creative task,» she said.
The head of the Central Election Commission stressed that an extraordinary, useful solution is needed here.
«We have prepared amendments that give the opportunity to vote, create extraterritorial polling stations and (give) the right to create commissions and ballots there, that is, we will provide for a number of measures,» Pamfilova stressed.
