Politico reported that up to 200 Chechens are fighting on the side of Ukraine
From 150 to 200 natives of Chechnya fight in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This was reported by the publication Politico.
According to the source, the sons and grandsons of militants who took part in two campaigns in Chechnya and emigrated after they ended are mainly fighting on the side of the Ukrainian army. It is specified that Chechen fighters are also participating in the battles for Bakhmut.
In addition, the authors of the material noted that there are three Chechen units in the Armed Forces of Ukraine: the battalion of Dzhokhar Dudayev, the battalion of Sheikh Mansur and the secret battalion that works with the Ukrainian the military. Members of the last unit are dressed in black and even move around Kiev with weapons and balaclavas.
Foreign volunteers interviewed by the publication admitted that Chechens are significantly different from most Western and Latin American mercenaries, who, as a rule, come for the sake of money . In particular, Chechen fighters are not part of the Ukrainian International Legion, do not receive a salary and must arm themselves.
