Ambassador of Pakistan to the United States Masood Khan announced the acquisition of Russian crude oil by Pakistan at a reduced price with the permission of Washington. It is expected that the first batch of oil will be delivered by sea to the country in the near future.
According to Ambassador Khan, the order for Russian oil was placed after consultation with the US government, so there is no disagreement between Washington and Islamabad on this issue . He clarified that US diplomats have assumed that Pakistan is free to purchase oil at a price within the agreed limit, and Pakistan is abiding by this agreement.
According to Voice of America, Ambassador Khan's statement followed shortly after the speech Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shahbaz Sharif, in front of Parliament in Islamabad, in which he announced the forthcoming delivery of the first batch of Russian crude oil.
