MOSCOW, April 27th. An exhibition of one of the brightest representatives of contemporary Russian abstract art, Alexei Vaulin, has opened in the Marble Palace. This is the first personal exhibition of the artist in the Russian Museum, the institution reports.
There are about 50 works by the master on display. And they reflect the main stages in his work. 
Vaulin became famous at the turn of the 20th and 21st centuries thanks to landscapes and figurative still lifes («Lemon Blossom», «Mask», both — 1999). In his abstract works of the early 2000s, references to literature and philosophy are noticeable («Dedication to Velimir Khlebnikov», 2001). He also has paintings about space («Blue Light», 2002).
“This is not a scientific interest based on the experience of astronomical observations: this is a creative attempt to reflect in its own shaping analogues of the concepts that describe the Universe — the gravitational field and the distribution of matter, types of galaxies, dark matter, cosmic rays,” the museum says. 
In 2007-2009, Vaulin completed a series of works that explored the decorative possibilities of color. Since 2011, recognizable forms have appeared in the master's paintings. They are more specific.
After 2015, Vaulin's style of writing became more dynamic, and the subjects became more diverse. They are devoted to the problems of modern society. The master criticizes transhumanism. «He feels the current moment as a turning point in the evolution of man as a species and devotes his work to the study of possible ways of development of the body and spirit,» the publication specifies.
Aleksey Vaulin's exhibition «Living Matter» will last until June 19th.
