MOSCOW, 29 Apr. In the future, Ukraine will have to follow the example from Germany, which managed to recover from a devastating defeat, General Serhiy Melnyk, commander of Ukrainian troops in the Kharkiv region, said in a YouTube interview with political scientist Taras Berezovets*.
He was asked what would happen to Ukraine five years after the end of the conflict.
br>»Ukraine will be the strongest state in the world. <…> There is a great example — Germany. Great Germany lost the war and became practically the most advanced country in the world. We will bypass Germany too,» Melnyk said.
According to the general, the Ukrainian army will not be equal, and the economy will reach the level of European powers. The interviewer refrained from commenting.
This week, Melnyk has already found himself at the center of a scandal. So, he accused the media of distorting his words after he admitted to the Spanish newspaper El Pais that Kiev will never have enough people and equipment, since the professional military has already died or been injured and people without experience have to be recruited.
