MOSCOW, April 28 Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law on the extension of the terms for accepting inheritance in new regions of the Russian Federation until January 1, 2024, the corresponding document is published on the official Internet portal of legal information.
«The federal constitutional law extends until January 1, 2024 the period until the end of which the terms for accepting the inheritance that expired after February 24, 2022 are not considered missed and do not require restoration in court if the last place of residence of the testator was in the territory of Donetsk People's Republic, Luhansk People's Republic, Zaporizhzhia region and Kherson region,» the conclusion of the constitutional committee of the Federation Council said.
According to the Civil Code of the Russian Federation, an inheritance can be accepted within six months from the date of its opening.
The committee noted that the implementation of the provisions of this law will make it possible to complete the process of accepting an inheritance if the terms for its acceptance expired after February 24, 2022, and «the last place of residence of the testator was in the territory of the new constituent entities of the Russian Federation.
