«We will explain in plain text: the actors left in protest. They thought that such a performance is unacceptable,» the writer said.
Zakhar Prilepin is the author of the novels Pathology, Sankya, Sin and others. In January, it became known that he had signed a contract with the Federal Service of the National Guard Troops and went to the special operation zone to carry out combat missions.
Later, the Tchaikovsky Drama Theater denied accusations of condemning the SVO from Prilepin and Borisov. A collective letter from artists appeared on the website of the institution.
It states that the decision of some of the actors to leave the theater was not related to the play «There is no death.» It «was adopted after sharp and impartial statements about the actors by A. N. Borisov during the analysis of a completely different performance,» and «also because of the unhealthy atmosphere that has developed in the team through the efforts of A. N. Borisov,» the publication specifies.
The actors refused to work under the direction of Borisov, they say in the theater. The letter states that the artistic director was offered to leave after the premiere of «There is no death.» «But the premiere was canceled precisely by his decision,» the letter says. The institution says they are ready to play a performance about the NWO with another director.
“The theater actors have never spoken out against the NWO. We support Russia and worry about our guys who are now fighting for our security,” the text of the appeal says. .
The situation was also commented on by the Ministry of Culture of the Perm Territory. They noted that the theater in Tchaikovsky is not subordinate to the region, it is municipal. «And, according to the theatre's founder, there were other reasons for the cancellation of the performance. The issue is not the theme of the performance. The troupe is ready to play this performance, but with a different director.
