MOSCOW, April 28 Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated senators and deputies on the Day of Parliamentarism, and also thanked them for their effective work, strengthening of sovereignty and security.
«The meeting of the Council of Legislators is traditionally timed to coincide with the Day of Russian Parliamentarism, which was celebrated yesterday, April 27. I congratulate you on this holiday and want to thank the senators and deputies, all your colleagues in the regions of the Russian Federation for the great meaningful and productive work to create a solid legislative foundation for the effective socio-economic development of our country, improving the quality of life of people, strengthening the sovereignty and security of our state,» he said during a speech at a meeting with members of the Council of Legislators at the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation.
The head of the Russian Federation also noted that many parliamentary traditions were laid down at the beginning of the last century during the pre-revolutionary convocations of the State Duma, which had been working in the Taurida Palace since 1906.
