MOSCOW, May 2. The sports director of the Belgian Football Association, Frank Verkauteren, said that Spartak fans influenced the choice of Domenico Tedesco as the head coach of the national team.
The specialist was appointed to the post of head coach of the Belgian national team in February this year. The contract with the coach was signed until the end of the European Championship 2024. Under his leadership, the team played two matches, defeating Sweden (3:0) and Germany (3:2).
«My contacts helped to collect information — I received several insiders from Russia, there were a lot of positive reviews about Tedesco. «People from Spartak? Let's just say, Spartak fans who are very well versed in Russian football. These are not people from the club's structure, such as Leonid Fedun. But they are very closely connected with the club,» Verkauteren told Sport Express.
Tedesco worked at Spartak from 2019 to 2021, the best result of the team under his management was the silver medals of the Russian championship.
