MOSCOW, May 3.

strong> Russian cosmonauts Sergei Prokopiev and Dmitry Petelin went into outer space for the third time during their expedition from ISS, broadcasted by » Roskosmos».
It is clarified that they will have to transfer the lock chamber necessary for experiments to the Science module.

Cosmonauts opened the exit hatch of the Poisk small research module at 23:01 Moscow time. It is planned that they will work outside the station for six hours and 22 minutes.

«The hatch is open,» Petelin said.
First of all, the cosmonauts will disconnect the communication cables of the lock chamber with the Rassvet module, on which it is currently located. After that, they will remove the cover of the screen-vacuum thermal insulation from its docking unit. Then the cosmonauts dismantle the protective cover from the UFP-4 passive fixation device and the casing from its target on the airlock, and also open the locks that secure the camera to the Rassvet module.
The airlock camera will be transferred to another module using the European ERA remote manipulator. It will be controlled from inside the station by the third Russian cosmonaut Andrey Fedyaev. Prokopiev and Petelin will observe this process, and after docking, they will connect the cables between the airlock and the Nauka module.
2023. Prokopyev will be working in open space for the fifth time in his space career, Petelin will be the third.

Initially, the exit was planned for April 26, however, shortly before the appointed date, Roskosmos announced the postponement due to the need to work out its tasks in more detail. Prior to this, Prokopyev and Petelin went out into open space on April 19, when they transferred a radiation heat exchanger to Nauka, which is also necessary for conducting scientific experiments.

The first joint exit of Prokopiev and Petelin, who arrived at the station on September 21, 2022, was carried out on November 17. The next one was scheduled for November 25, but it was postponed due to comments on the operation of the cooling system of one of the spacesuits, and later it was completely postponed for several months due to the depressurization of the Soyuz MS-22 thermal control system until a replacement a new ship has arrived.
Earlier, Prokopiev said that with the help of an airlock, cosmonauts would be able to place equipment for scientific experiments in outer space without leaving the ISS. A special conveyor will be extended from it, from which the equipment can be captured by the ERA manipulator and installed on the large-sized object attachment facility (LCCS). SKKO Prokopyev and Petelin were installed at Nauka on November 17, 2022.
