MOSCOW, May 7. The leader of the Just Russia — For Truth party, Sergei Mironov, in his telegram channel noted the importance of expanding the program to provide Internet to residents of small settlements.
«The program for eliminating the digital divide must be adjusted in the direction of expanding the opportunities for citizens to access the Web. The Internet should be provided to small settlements regardless of the number of inhabitants. At the same time, it is necessary to increase the coverage radius within each village so that people do not have to pay extra for connection,» wrote he is in his telegram channel.
Mironov noted that the problem must be urgently solved by «expanding the rural digitalization program.»
According to the parliamentarian, he receives a large number of appeals in which citizens note that the number of settlements falling under the digitalization program is limited.
“The number of inhabitants for this should be at least 100 people, and in the villages where the Internet is still installed, the network is far from always and not everywhere,” the deputy noted.
He also adds that there are situations when a high-quality signal diverges within a radius of 100 meters around the towers that are installed in the settlement. If the house is further away, then there are problems with speed or with the presence of a signal.
«To solve the problem, people are offered to buy equipment for their own money. Only now it is not cheap. Naturally, not everyone has the funds for this, and therefore many are left without access to the Internet,» Mironov notes the problem.< br />
