In the annexed Crimea, a resident of the city of Kerch died after a high-ranking Interior Ministry official asked him to make a false call to the police. Two different versions of the death of the Crimean were told by Baza and the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
According to Baza, on May 2, Sergey Dovzhenko, head of the canine service center of the Crimean Ministry of Internal Affairs, arrived in Kerch to check the work of local policemen. In the private sector of the city, on Komarov Street, he stopped Alexander Kalinichenko, who was mowing the grass, and asked him to call the duty unit and report the theft of the lawn mower.
Baza claimed that “the pensioner began to argue with the policeman, and during the verbal skirmish his legs gave way, he fell”, “the man was called an ambulance, but the doctors only stated his death.” edited post, removing the details and replacing this piece with the words: «Against the background of this situation, Kalinichenko became ill and he died.»
In the department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for Crimea, without naming names or dates, they confirmed that their employee asked a resident of Kerch «to transfer information about the alleged offense committed against him to the duty unit of the Kerch police.»
< p> At the same time, according to their version, the Crimean “given verbal consent to the call, after which he left home”, and “one hour and fifteen minutes after the call, an ambulance was called to the man’s place of residence due to a sharp deterioration in his health” . “There were no complaints from the man’s relatives about the actions of the police,” the Ministry of Internal Affairs noted.
Police officers accompanied the post about this story with a screenshot of the Baza post with the stamp “The Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs denies” over it.
According to Baza, Dovzhenko indicated in his report on the check that it had passed normally and without incident, and «the deceased Alexander Kalinichenko [was] indicated as the applicant for the training call.» The Interior Ministry did not comment on this.
