The Governor of the Kurgan Region Vadim Shumkov promised to pay 50,000 rubles in compensation to local residents who completely lost their property in the fires, and 10,000 rubles to those whose property was partially damaged. This was reported by TASS.
Yesterday, a state of emergency was introduced in the region due to the spread of fires. As reported in the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the villages of Bely Yar, Redkino, Ploskoy, Sladko-Karasinskoye, the Topol microdistrict and the villages of Uval and Smolino in the suburbs of Kurgan were evacuated. In the village of Yuldus, Shadrinsk district, the fire engulfed a school and 20 houses.
Today, the head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, Alexander Kurenko, arrived in the region, after which the department reported on the localization of six out of nine landscape fires and the complete elimination of one of them. In addition, firefighters localized three out of four forest fires, eight were extinguished.
TASS, citing doctors, writes that six people died in the fires in the region, and another 14 local residents were injured.
“The total grouping of forces involved in extinguishing the fire in the Kurgan region has reached 1,290 people and 332 pieces of equipment, including aviation from the Russian Emergencies Ministry. Planes and a helicopter of the emergency department dropped 165 tons of water on the fires,” the Ministry of Emergency Situations added.
