
WASHINGTON, May 8. The United States will remove classified equipment from Abrams tanks transferred to Ukraine to prevent it from falling into the hands of the Russian military, USA Today reported.
The Americans have previously announced the shipment of three dozen Abrams tanks in the M1A1 variant to Ukraine.

«These powerful tanks won't be able to hit the battlefield for months, <…> due to the fact that they are being modified to remove sensitive technologies that could fall into the hands of Russian forces,” the publication says.
Initially, the United States planned to assemble new Abrams for Ukrainians in the latest M1A2 modification, but it was subsequently decided take tanks from the Pentagon to speed up deliveries. It is assumed that their transfer will take place by autumn.
