The Russian ambassador to Poland was unable to lay flowers at the memorial cemetery because of the protesters; a year ago it was covered with paint

The Russian Ambassador to Poland, Sergei Andreev, was unable to lay flowers at the memorial cemetery in Warsaw on Victory Day, as he was prevented by the participants in the agreed-upon action. The ambassador told TASS and Izvestia about this.

According to Andreev, the crowd did not allow him to walk from the parking lot to the main monument in the cemetery. There were police officers on the spot, they explained to the ambassador that the rally was approved by the Warsaw mayor's office, and the wreath-laying ceremony had no formal permission.

Initially, the agencies reported that due to the actions of the protesters, Andreev was forced to leave. In the recording, published by RIA Novosti, the ambassador is surrounded by people who are chanting: «Rashists!» Later, the Polish edition of Onet clarified that the wreath was left at the entrance to the memorial complex.

Last year, during an attempt to lay flowers on Victory Day, Andreev was doused with red paint. Russian news agencies then published a recording of the incident without sound — people who were next to the ambassador shouted: «Fascists!».
