MOSCOW, May 9. American entrepreneur and Twitter owner Elon Musk believes that the WhatsApp messenger cannot be trusted.

«WhatsApp can't be trusted,» Musk tweeted in response to a user's report that WhatsApp used the microphone several times while he was sleeping.
Additionally, in response to a user's message that WhatsApp is owned by Meta*, Musk said that the founders of WhatsApp left the company in resentment, and then also launched a campaign against Facebook*. He suggested that they were worried about what they learned about Facebook * and the changes he made to the messenger.
Later, the entrepreneur added on his page that it's better to «trust nothing».
Last year, following a lawsuit filed by the Prosecutor General's Office, the Tverskoy Court recognized Meta* as extremist and banned access to its social networks Instagram* and Facebook* in Russia. The solution does not imply punishment for users for bypassing locks.
At the end of December, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law that limits the use of foreign instant messengers in the provision of public services and in the sale of services and goods by banks and state-owned enterprises from March 1, 2023. The list also includes WhatsApp.
