MOSCOW, May 10th. The sequel to Beetlejuice will be released on September 6, 2024, writes Variety.
Not much is known about the sequel to Tim Burton's cult film. The image of the annoying poltergeist will again be embodied by Michael Keaton, and the grown-up Lydia Dietz will be played by Winona Ryder.
Jenna Ortega will join the cast. The actress became famous thanks to Burton's Wednesday series about the heiress of Martisha and Gomez Addams. In the new project of the gothic storyteller, she will play the daughter of Lydia.
Justin Theroux will also appear on the screen. Viewers know him from the projects «Charlie's Angels: Only Forward», «American Psycho», «Inland Empire» and «Mulholland Drive». What role he got this time has not yet been revealed.
The sequel is being produced by Brad Pitt's Plan B. The script was entrusted to Alfred Gow and Miles Millar. They also worked with Burton on Wednesday.
In the original 1988 film, the recently deceased couple (Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis) turn to a poltergeist (Keaton). The couple is annoyed by the family that has moved into their house (the parents were played by Katherine O'Hara and Geoffrey Jones, and their daughter is Ryder).
It was previously reported that the writers' strike in the United States affected the filming of the Lord of the Rings series.
