
St. Petersburg, May 11. A district court in St. Petersburg placed local resident Mikhail Timoshikhin under administrative arrest for 15 days, who shouted a Nazi salute at the Victory Tank monument on Victory Day, the joint press service of the city courts reported.
According to the department, around 18.00 Moscow time on May 9, Timoshikhin «deliberately and consciously» in the presence of veterans of the Great Patriotic War shouted out a Nazi salute at the Victorious Tank monument on Stachek Avenue in the Kirovsky district.
After pleading guilty, he explained to the court that he had «unsuccessfully joked» while drunk. Timoshikhin also spoke about his alcohol addiction, with which he «considers it necessary to fight, as it interferes with a normal life.»
«Kirovskiy District Court… held Mikhail Timoshikhin administratively liable for committing an offense under Part 1 of Article 20.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation (propaganda or public demonstration of Nazi paraphernalia or symbols — ed.)… The court imposed a punishment in the form of an administrative arrest for a period of 15 days,» concludes the judicial press service.
