MOSCOW, May 12. Inflation in the Russian Federation for the period from May 3 to May 10 turned out to be zero, since the beginning of the year prices rose by 2.11%, follows from Rosstat data.
In the previous reporting period — from April 25 to May 2 — inflation in Russia amounted to 0.19%.
«For the period from May 3 to May 10, 2023, the consumer price index, according to Rosstat, amounted to 100.00%, from the beginning of May — 100.05%, from the beginning of the year — 102.11%,» Rosstat said in a statement.
During the reporting period, prices for fruits and vegetables decreased by an average of 1.2%. In particular, cucumbers fell in price by 10.4%, tomatoes — by 5.2%, bananas — by 1.1%. At the same time, prices for cabbage increased by 18%, carrots — by 5.6%, onions — by 5.5%, beets and apples — by 1.1%, potatoes — by 0.4%.
Out of 33 product positions (excluding fruits and vegetables), price reductions were recorded for 12 items. Eggs fell the most — by 1.7%, and buckwheat — by 0.9%. The prices for pasteurized milk, canned fruits and berries for baby food — by 0.3%, for sterilized milk and sour cream — by 0.2%, for millet, pork, margarine and tea — by 0.1% also decreased. 19 types of products went up in price, most of all mutton — by an average of 1.8%, followed by chicken meat — an increase of 1.1%, sugar — by 0.8%, vermicelli — by 0.5%.
