ROME, May 13. Vladimir Zelensky arrived in Rome, later on Saturday, he will meet with the president and prime minister of Italy, news channel Rainews24 reported.
At Ciampino airport, Zelensky was met by Italian Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Antonio Tajani. As expected, Zelensky will then go to a meeting with President Sergio Mattarella, after which he will hold talks with Prime Minister George Meloni. In the afternoon, Zelensky will be received by Pope Francis. According to the newspaper la Repubblica, Zelensky may stay in Rome overnight to fly to Berlin in the morning.
The Italian police have stepped up security measures in connection with the arrival of the President of Ukraine, organizing a no-fly zone in the center of the capital. Separate areas are under the control of dog handlers, snipers and sappers, the sewer network, parks and the Tiber River remain under surveillance. In total, about 1,000 law enforcement agents are involved in the security plan.
