PERM, May 12. Rospotrebnadzor checks air quality in the Perm region after the appearance of haze due to forest fires in the Kurgan and Sverdlovsk regions, the regional department reported departments.
Residents of Perm in social networks complain about the «heavy, smoky smell.» At the same time, a noticeable deterioration in visibility was observed in the city in the morning, in the afternoon the haze became less noticeable. According to specialists from the Perm Center for Geographic Information Systems, smoke from fires east of Yekaterinburg may persist in the Perm Territory until Saturday night.
«In connection with the appearance of haze in Perm and on the territory of the Perm Territory, monitoring of atmospheric air quality was organized at six points on the territory of Perm and in seven settlements of the region on the territory of residential development,» the department of Rospotrebnadzor reported, confirming that local residents can smell burning in the air, observe haze due to the difficult forest fire situation in the Sverdlovsk and Kurgan regions.
Regional GUMChS of the Russian Federation, in turn, reported that there were no active forest fires in the territories bordering the Perm Territory.
In the Sverdlovsk region, by May 12, 33 fires were registered on an area of 50,718 hectares.
