
MOSCOW, May 10. The next spacewalk by Russian cosmonauts Sergei Prokopyev and Dmitry Petelin will take place on May 12, Roskosmos reported.
«From May 6 to May 9, under the flight program of the Russian segment of the station, preparations were made for a spacewalk (VKD-58) under the Russian program, which is scheduled for May 12,» the report says.
It is noted that the cosmonauts checked the consoles for ensuring the exit and the systems for docking spacesuits to the board in the Poisk and Zvezda modules, and also studied the onboard documentation and the preliminary exit cyclogram, the route of the transition and the working areas of the exit, prepared the equipment and tools to be taken out .
Prokopiev and Petelin reopened the Orlan-MKS spacesuits, checked the charge of their batteries and prepared replacement spacesuit elements. They also inspected them, made sure that the hydraulic systems of the suits and the systems for their docking to the board were working. In addition, the astronauts have collected a common package with tools for the exit.
As Roscosmos specified, the cosmonauts discussed with ground specialists the results of their last spacewalk, which took place on the night of May 4.
Prokopiev and Petelin arrived at the ISS on September 21, 2022 on the Soyuz MS-22 spacecraft together with American astronaut Frank Rubio. During the expedition, they have already gone out into open space three times: November 17, April 19 and May 3-4.
