The head of the Ministry of Justice said that transpersons should be sent for compulsory treatment

The head of the Russian Ministry of Justice, Konstantin Chuichenko, said at the St. Petersburg International Legal Forum that trans people should be sent for compulsory treatment. The broadcast was conducted on the event's website.

Chuichenko noted that today it has already been decided that the “legal loophole” on changing the gender marker must be eliminated. “But it can be eliminated in two ways: simply ban and forget about this problem and proceed from the fact that these people should simply be treated, but in what direction — my opinion, the opinion of the Ministry of Justice, is that they need to be treated in that direction, what nature has determined,” the minister said.

“But there is another opinion that it is possible, by conducting certain expert studies, to establish that these people cannot do otherwise, and then they have the right to perform surgical manipulations «, — continued Chuichenko. He stressed that he «does not like» this option.

According to Chuichenko, «calamity is determined by units,» so «we can put up with these people through psychiatric, psychological assistance to them.» He added that the question is now being decided “which way to go.”

On the eve of the change in the gender marker, the head of the UK, Alexander Bastrykin, also spoke. “The fact that Europe gives them (transpersons – MZ) benefits is a problem for Europe. Sex change on paper is a hoax, a scam. If this is fraud, this deceit violates the interests of the state, our defense capability, I mean those who ran in order to get away from mobilization, changed their gender … We will act taking into account the new realities, ”Bastrykin said at the same forum.< /p>

Mediazona wrote that against the background of the invasion of Ukraine, mobilization and new repressive laws against LGBTQ+ in Russia, the number of new passports issued due to a change in the gender marker has significantly increased. At the end of April, State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin announced the urgent preparation of a bill banning the change of the gender marker. According to Volodin, now for this it is necessary to obtain a medical certificate, which can be done in a private clinic.

“A man gets up in the morning and decides for himself that he is no longer a man, but a woman; not a woman, but a man. He goes to a paid clinic — the service costs from 30 to 60 thousand — receives a certificate and with this certificate goes further to the registry office, to the passport office to change his last name, first name, patronymic, ”added the Chairman of the State Duma.

Develop amendments entrusted to the deputy from the party «New People» Vladislav Davankov. He said that the initiative will be presented to the State Duma Council on May 15. The proposal to ban the change of the gender marker was supported by the Ministry of Justice. The department plans to amend the law on acts of civil status and the federal law «On the Fundamentals of Protecting the Health of Citizens in the Russian Federation.» “This will make it possible to exclude in our country the possibility of changing the sex of a person by simply changing documents,” said Chuichenko.
