MOSCOW, May 12. Moscow does not interfere in internal politics and the electoral processes of other states, said the press secretary of the Russian head of state Dmitry Peskov, commenting on the statement of the candidate for the presidency of Turkey from the opposition «People's Alliance» Kemal Kilicdaroglu.
Kılıçdaroğlu wrote on his Twitter that the Turkish presidential candidate «urged Russia not to interfere in the republic's elections.»
«I don't know what was the reason for such appeals. We have repeatedly said and insist that we do not interfere in the internal affairs and electoral processes of foreign states,» Peskov told reporters.
He added that it is important for Kılıçdaroglu to remember the story of the Americans, when they kept repeating to the entire government for a long time that Russia interfered in the US presidential elections.
«They spent tens of millions of dollars on the investigation and then came to the conclusion that there was no interference,» he said.
Presidential and parliamentary elections in Turkey are scheduled for May 14th. The second round of the presidential elections, if no candidate receives 50% of the votes, is scheduled for May 28.
