
St. PETERSBURG, May 12, Dmitry Edigarev. The Russian Football Union (RFU) is pleased with Indonesia's interest in a possible friendly match against the Russian national team, the RFU communications service said.
Earlier, the Minister of Sport and Youth Policy of Indonesia, Dito Ariotejo, announced about the possible holding of the match at a meeting with the Russian Ambassador to the country, Lyudmila Vorobyova.
“We are glad to see the interest of colleagues from Indonesia. At the moment we are in contact with a number of federations and hope that in the near future we will reach final agreements on organizing friendly matches for the Russian national team,” the RFU Communications Service said.
On March 23, the Russian national team played a friendly match against the Iranian team, which ended in a draw with a score of 1:1. On March 26, the Russians defeated the Iraqis with a score of 2:0. In February 2022, the International Football Federation and the Union of European Football Associations issued a joint statement, according to which Russian teams and clubs are suspended from participation in all international competitions for an indefinite period due to the situation in Ukraine.
