St. Petersburg, May 13. Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia Alexander Bastrykin at the St. Petersburg International Legal Forum proposed to nationalize the main sectors of the Russian economy.
«We are talking, in fact, about economic security in times of war. <…> And then the next step: let's take the path of nationalization of the main sectors of our economy,» Bastrykin said.
Earlier, the chairman of the Investigative Committee proposed to return the confiscation of property as a criminal punishment for crimes.
The confiscation of property as a punishment was abolished in 2003. Now there is a measure of the same name, which is used as another measure of a criminal law nature, namely: at the suit of the investigation or the prosecutor's office.
According to the chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia, «the absence of such a measure of punishment sometimes makes investigations and court sentences senseless.» Bastrykin also turned to the Ministry of Justice with a request to consider this proposal.
